Your data & account

What Areca stores, how it stays in sync with Linear, and how to disconnect.

Areca is a view on top of Linear, and it's built to stay that way. This page covers what it keeps, and how to leave whenever you want.

What Areca stores

To show your work quickly, Areca keeps a synced copy of the Linear data it needs:

  • The issues assigned to you, and the statuses, labels, and cycles that describe them
  • Your schedules — the blocks you place on the calendar, which exist only in Areca
  • Your settings

Your issues remain owned by Linear. Areca reads them to build your list and calendar, and only writes back when you edit an issue yourself. See Syncing with Linear for exactly what moves in each direction.

Areca needs a connection

There's no offline mode — Areca works against a live session and your synced data, so it expects you to be online while you use it.

Disconnecting

You can disconnect from Areca at any time, and doing so removes what it stored.

Go to Settings → Account and confirm by typing your account email. For your security, this action requires a recent sign-in — if it's been a while, Areca will ask you to sign in with Linear again first, then bring you right back.

When you confirm, Areca:

  • Stops any syncing in progress
  • Deletes your account and everything tied to it — your synced issues, your schedules, and your settings
  • Revokes its own access to your Linear account

After that, Areca holds nothing of yours. Your issues, of course, are untouched and stay exactly where they've always been: in Linear.
