Editing & batch actions
Update issue fields from Areca and change many issues at once — all synced back to Linear.
You don't have to switch to Linear to keep your issues up to date. Areca lets you edit the fields that matter for planning, and those changes flow straight back to Linear.
Editing a single issue
From an issue's card or its right-click menu, you can change its:
- Status
- Priority
- Labels
- Due date — pick Today, Tomorrow, or Next week, or open the date picker for anything else
Every change is saved back to Linear. Areca applies it instantly and confirms with a small message; if Linear rejects it for any reason, the change rolls back on its own so the app never shows something that didn't actually save.
A deliberately small set of fields
Areca edits the handful of fields you need while planning — status, priority, labels, and due date. Fuller edits like reassigning an issue or writing comments stay in Linear, where they belong.
Turning editing off
If you'd rather treat Areca as read-only — a place to plan without any risk of changing Linear — turn off Enable Linear issue editing in Settings. The edit controls become inactive, and Areca won't write anything back until you turn it on again.
Changing many issues at once
When you need to move a batch of issues forward together, select them and act on all of them in one go.
Selecting issues
- Click an issue's checkbox to select it, or press Space to toggle the one you're focused on.
- Move the focus with the ↑ and ↓ arrow keys.
- Press Escape to clear the selection.
As soon as anything is selected, a batch bar appears with everything you can do to the group.
Applying a batch change
With issues selected, you can set a shared:
- Status
- Priority
- Label (add or remove)
Areca applies the change to each issue and tells you how it went — including if any single issue failed, so a hiccup on one never leaves you guessing about the rest.
What “Select all” selects
Select all picks the issues currently in view — the ones that match your active search and filters — and skips anything already completed. It's scoped to what you're looking at, not every issue you have.
When your selection spans more than one team, the status and label choices are grouped by team, and Areca only offers options that actually apply — so you can't accidentally set a status that a given team doesn't have.
