Getting started

Sign in with Linear and get your bearings in the Areca dashboard.

Getting into Areca takes one click. There's no setup, no workspace to configure, and nothing for your team to install.

Continue with Linear

Areca uses Linear for sign-in — there's no separate account to create. On the login screen, choose Continue with Linear and approve the connection.

Linear will ask you to grant Areca access. Areca requests write access for one reason: so the changes you make here — a status, a priority, a due date — can be saved back to Linear. It only ever writes when you change something yourself.

Wait for the first sync

Right after you sign in, Areca pulls in the issues assigned to you across every team you belong to. You'll see a brief loading screen while it does. This only takes a moment, and after the first time your issues are ready the instant you open the app.

You're in

You'll land on the dashboard with your issues on the left and a calendar on the right. That's the whole app.

Only your issues

Areca reads the issues assigned to you — nothing else. It doesn't see your teammates' work, and it doesn't change anything about how your team uses Linear.

The dashboard

Areca is two panels side by side.

  • Issues (left) — everything assigned to you, with search, filters, and sorting. This is where you find work.
  • Calendar (right) — a continuous timeline where you plan that work. Drag an issue over from the left and it becomes a block on your day.

Drag the divider between them to give either side more room.

Collapsing the issues panel

When you want the calendar to take over, collapse the issues panel to a slim rail with the toggle at its top, or press [. The rail keeps the essentials within reach — settings, theme, and a manual sync button — and expands again with the same key. Areca remembers the panel state between visits.

Finding settings

Settings live on their own page rather than in a popup. Open them from the menu next to the logo, from the collapsed rail, or by pressing , anywhere in the app. See Shortcuts & settings for everything you can tune.

Syncing on demand

Areca keeps your issues fresh on its own (see Syncing with Linear), but if you just made a change in Linear and want it now, use the Sync issues button — in the logo menu when the panel is open, or on the collapsed rail.

Next

With your issues loaded, the next step is finding the ones you care about. Head to Finding your issues.

Welcome to Areca

Finding your issues
